Catalog Contents

All pages of the catalog present the following elements:

  • The name of the product (some names might be linked to a picture and/or a detailed description).
  • A short description.
  • The quantity available (Avail / Qty) of a product. All products are either "In Stock" or "Avail. Soon". If a product is in limited quantity the availability could list the number of item available or simply be noted as "Low Qty".
  • The price in dollars ($$$).
  • An "Add To Cart" button. In order to calculate the proper shipping and taxes, there are four types of button, one for each region where the purchase can be done: USA, Canada, Quebec and International / Overseas (Outside Continental North America). Just click the button for your region. If the regions are irrelevant, there's a generic "Add To Cart" button instead.
  • eBook option. If the product is also available (or sometime exclusively available) in an eBook version, there will be a ÒDrive Thru RPGÓ button linking to the DTRPG page of that product.

Ordering & Shipping Policy

Be aware that Protoculture Addicts is an irregular magazine.

Shipping Cost: we do our best to keep your shipping cost low but unfortunately we do have to charge:

Shipping Delay: orders should generally be received within two (2) to eight (8) weeks (once the order has been processed and shipped--check the Order Status page on the blog to know when). This is an estimation to help you know when to expect your delivery and does not constitute a guarantee. We do our best to ship orders as soon as possible, but orders are not processed immediately as our small staff of volunteers might be busy with something else. We do our best to process and ship orders every two weeks, but it often takes a month (and sometimes even more than that -- but generally not more than two months). Also, keep in mind that many variables can influence postal delivery (destination's location, peak period, holidays, weather, etc.) and it is very difficult to predict delivery time with accuracy. For example, in the USA, orders will reach the East and West coasts first, as well as big urban areas, but might take a little more time for central or rural regions. Overseas, it will reach Europe first (UK is usually faster), but might much longer (up to ten or twelve weeks) for places like Africa, Italy and the Middle East.

  • US & International orders are now usually mailed First Class directly at the U.S. Postal Service for better efficiency (improved delivery time & reduced cost). Once it is in the mail, it should take only one (USA) to two weeks (Overseas). However, we drive over the border to mail orders whenever it is possible (once or twice a month, sometimes every two months), so often there might be a few extra weeks of delays because of that. In rare occasion, if a USPS mailing is not possible, orders might ship by surface mail (and therefore take longer).
  • Canadian orders are sent by regular Lettermail and should take about one (1) to two (2) weeks for delivery.
  • Expected delivery time are calculated from the time the order is shipped (please allow some time to process the order) and NOT from the time the order is made.
  • If you are wondering if your order has shipped or when it will arrive please be aware that we never send order confirmations (if you ordered via PayPal, your receipt is your confirmation) and please, before emailing us an Order Inquiries, check the blog for shipping or Order Status information and read carefully our shipping policy. Remember that orders are processed and mailed by a small staff of volunteers (who also have families and other jobs taking their time and attention). However, we will always answer all order inquiries as quickly as possible. But check the web page and the blog first before emailing us and you will most probably find the answer to your question.
  • However, if you order is past the above suggested delivery time (8+ weeks) and you still have no received it, your order might be lost and therefore you should contact us right away. Please make sure to include as much information as possible with your Order Inquiry: Name, Address and, if possible, date of the order. Without those information we cannot locate your order in our database.

Payment:

  • Unless stated otherwise, the price are the same in Canadian dollars and in American dollars.
  • Unless stated otherwise, listed price don't include the shipping cost.
  • International orders (outside North America) must be paid in $US.
  • Canadian residents must add the GST (5%) and Quebec residents must also add the PST (however there is NO PST on books).
  • Payment can be made by check (must be certified for amount over $50), money-order or via PayPal (with which you can use all major credit cards).
  • Money-order or check must be made to "Protoculture".
  • With PayPal, depending on which purchasing button you click on and on the currency of your PayPal account, you will be charged either in US or Canadian dollars.

Refund Policy: We have a NO REFUND policy. However, if there is a problem with your order, we will do our best to accomodate you with a satisfactory solution.

End of Subscriptions

Subscribers can look at the top-right corner of the mailing label on any correspondance from us to know which number will be the last issue of their subscription.

Please note: Due to the magazine's now irregular schedule, we have decided to stop selling subscriptions. However, we will continue to honor existing subscriptions and you can still order the magazine issue by issue.

Change of Address

If you move, please notify us by email of your change of address. In your email, please make sure to use the subject ÒChange Of AddressÓ and indicate your name, old address, new address as well as the date the change will be effective.

Online Orders

Online orders are available only with payment through PayPal. Using Paypal is Easy and Fast: send money instantly and securely with your credit card (PayPal gladly accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover & American Express) or checking account. It is also Private and Secure: your financial information is not shared when you send money. Here is how to proceed:

1) Browse the catalog and when you find an item that you want to purchase, simply click on the "Add to Cart" button. However, because of the system limitations, it is difficult for us to calculate the various shipping cost and taxes, so we had to create four different types of "Add To Cart" buttons for each region you might live in:

Generic "Add to Cart" button:
If you are located in the USA, click on
If you are located in Canada (excluding Quebec), click on
If you are located in Quebec, (for books there is no Quebec button) click on
If you are located outside North America (International or Overseas customer), click on

2) Clicking on the "Add To Cart" button will bring you to the Shopping Cart:

There you can see what items you have selected for purchase, how much it would cost you (in U.S. or Canadian dollars) or remove unwanted items (check the appropriate box and click "Update"). You can go back to our site for more browsing in the catalog by clicking "Continue Shopping" and return to the shopping cart anytime by clicking "View Cart". The Shopping Cart is showing the total price of each item (in U.S. or Canadian dollars) and is detailing the shipping & handling cost (taxes like GST will be added later in the process, but because of the limitation of the PayPal system with piggybacked taxes, Quebec PST is shown under the ÒHandlingÓ cost). Note that the Shopping Cart is located in a Secure area of the PayPal web site (note the closed padlock in the lower corner of the Shopping Cart window).

3) When your shopping is finished, just click the "Checkout" button of the Shopping Cart. This will bring you to another Secure page of PayPal where they will ask you to sign up, and to give your personal and credit card information like any other secure online shopping system. And voila! You will receive an e-mail confirmation and we will get your order and proceed to ship it as soon as possible!

Sending money with PayPal: in some circumstances (special order, express shipping requested, need to pay an extra for an order, etc.) you might need to send us money for an item or service for which there is no pre-defined button. Sending a payment via PayPal can be done as easily as clicking a button (see demo):

  • If you are already a PayPal member:

    1) Log In to your PayPal account and click on "Send Money".
    2) Enter your payment details: type "order@protoculture.ca" as the "Recipient's Email", the amount to pay, the type of transaction (service or goods), your payment method, and you can write us a short message detailing the reason of the payment (what you are ordering). Then you click "Continue".
    3) Review the Payment Information and click "Send Money" to confirm the transaction. We will start processing your order as soon as we get PayPal's e-mail confirming the payment.

  • If you are a new PayPal user:

    1) You go to the PayPal web page (there are several links throughout our web page) and click on "Send Money".
    2) Enter your payment details: the email address of the Recipient (to: order@protoculture.ca), your own email address (from:), the amount of the payment, the type of transaction (for: service/other or goods), and then you click "Continue".
    3) You enter your payment information for billing and create your PayPal account. Click "Agree & Continue".
    4) Review the Payment details, payment method, shipping address (very important if you want your order to be delivered at the right address), write a short message detailing your order and click "Send Money" to confirm the transaction. We will start processing your order as soon as we get PayPal's e-mail confirming the payment.

  • Protoculture's web page offers links to many other web sites. Please, don't forget to Checkout before leaving our web site.
  • Also, keep in mind that PayPal is an independant company that is NOT related to Protoculture. We are simply using their great service and as such PayPal is our authorized payment processor. Mail Orders

The mail order procedure is as simple, but will take a little more time.

1) Browse the catalog and note on paper the items you want to order.
2) Calculate the total amount of your order.
  • Don't forget to calculate the shipping cost.
  • Don't forget to calculate the taxes: Canadian residents must add the GST (5%) and the Quebec residents must also add the PST (7.5% -- note that there is NO PST on books).
3) Prepare your payment.
  • See ÒPaymentÓ in the Ordering & Shipping Policy section for details.
  • Please, no credit card number for mail order.
  • Please, don't forget to include the following information with your order and payment: name, full address, City, State or Province, zip (or postal) code, your phone number (with area code) or your e-mail. Write them clearly so we will not have trouble shipping you the order.
